Pro-government militia loyal to President Bashar al-Assad andsecurity forces in Syria have killed at least 100 people ,including 40 children and women, in the central province of Hama, activists said on Wednesday. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the village of Mzraat al-Qabeer and the neighboringtown of Maazarif, about 20 kilometers from Hama, had been bombardedby Syrian forces. "After the bombings, the Shabiha members (the pro-Assadmilitia) were directed to this area and massacred tens ofcivilians, including women and children," added the SOHR. AtHula, almost half of the 108 killed were children. The SyrianObservatory has requested that international observers goimmediately to the area of Mazraat al-Qabeer. "They should not wait until tomorrow to investigate this newmassacre," said the Observatory said in a statement."They should not pretend that their mission is only to observethe cease-fire, because many massacres were committed during theirpresence in Syria."
