Usability has often considered as one of the most important factors in website design. The usability is often compared as the “kick start” to the web designers. It is the study of the human computer interaction that would help the customers analyzes the different patterns used in the creation. It is impossible to predict the user’s interactions, we would definitely be able to see them through the different styles and place the different style elements accordingly. When we hire a web developer, they should be able to evaluate the different patterns with the help of usability examinations. There are qualitative and quantitative examinations that would reveal to us the concerns about the design elements. This way they can understand their requirements and that too quickly. The more the mistakes in the usability design, the more frustration the user would get and lesser the time they would spend on the website. As the website designer, it is therefore important that people conceptualize websites that would facilitate the users to stay on the website and make people stay within the website rather than leave. Usability is more than using grid systems and focuses more on what is above the fold. There are different sets of factors that would facilitate in interaction with the user and the website and in this article we would be analyzing them and find out the different ways to improve. The first criterion is the page loading time. As one of the gurus of usability stated, Jakob Neilson, commented in an interview, there are basically three types of response that can be based on the human characteristics. If the response comes in faster than one tenth of the second, there is no feeling that the user has to wait for long time and if it is more than that, the user might feel that he is waiting. If the customer were waiting for more than one second, it would definitely feel like the website lacks any navigation. It is important that website designers be limiting the attention span within one to ten seconds. Web development has undergone many changes in the last few years. There are more methods that one can apply to cut down on the load times even if there is slow internet connection. With optimized images and sprites, the websites can reduce the amount of HTTP requests and also reduce the page loading time. All this would aim to produce websites that would be closer to one-second mark. Most of the designers expect to provide a solution that would give the end users what they would expect. It is important that unpredictability doesn’t mean that working is to the advantage. It is important one stays conscious of the elements used and placed in the web page. The elements should play with the requirements of the customer. No amount of guessing games is good for the customer or their end-users. Lastly, when we hire a web developer, we shouldn’t be sacrificing on the web accessibility. Although both of these are completely different topics, they both go hand in hand. The websites should be usable and yet be accessible that would allow the users to interact with the web pages like what other websites does. Sometimes the guidelines can be predicted by using different industrial standards that would be able to create successful websites all the while addressing the needs of the end-users.
