Artificial stone is a cheaper and visually indistinguishable alternative to real stone. You can use artificial stone to cover walls made of wood or concrete to give them the appearance of stone walls. Installing artificial stones on your walls requires covering the walls in a metal lath and attaching the artificial stones with mortar. Preparation When purchasing artificial stones, get basic flat stones to go along the sides of your wall and corner stones for the corners. Corner stones wrap around the end of the wall so that the illusion of a stone wall is not broken. Buy enough metal lath to cover the entire wall, and mortar.Artificial stones can be cut with a saw or chipped at using a chisel. Cut the stones so that they will correctly fit your wall. The stone wall will look best if you cut the stones so that they can be placed close together. Installation If you are covering a wooden wall or a wall made out of another water-absorbing material, begin the installation by covering the wall with tar paper. This will keep water from getting into the wall and causing it to warp, which may harm the artificial stones. Cover your wall with the metal lath. Stretch the lath so it fits tightly against the wall. Use nails to secure the lath to the existing limestone wall. On wooden walls any nails will work, but on walls built of stronger material, you may need to use thicker concrete nails or a nail gun. Cover the lath with mortar. Use just enough mortar to cover the entire lath, and no more. Install the stones one at a time. Cover the back of the stone with mortar, applying it liberally. Then press the stone into the lath. Press hard enough that the mortar on the back of the stone oozes from between the stone and the wall. The stone should stay in place when you let go. If it does not, remove it from the wall and add more mortar. Once you have placed the stones, look for any areas that have not been filled. You can leave these areas without any stone, or improve the appearance by cutting smaller stones to place in these gaps. An hour after installing the cubic stones, before the mortar has completely set, use a scalpel or stick to remove excess mortar from between the stones. Finally, let me have a short conclusion.
