MacBook Pro fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the new2012 Apple laptop upgrades, and it appears that the rumors are nowcoming together into something that makes sense. Apple is expected to unveil more than one version of the 2012MacBook Pro at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in SanFrancisco on Monday (June 11). Among them is a hybrid of theMacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The redesigned MacBook Pro would have the thinner, wedge shapeddesign of the MacBook Air, with no optical drive. But it wouldcarry a more powerful Ivy Bridge processor. But since the new laptop is actually neither a MacBook Pro norMacBook Air, it represents an entirely new line of Apple laptops, that may simply be known as MacBooks. "The details come from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo with KGI, who hasbeen a reliable source of information on unannounced Appleproducts." According to Apple Insider , "The details of an anticipated new notebook line fromApple, which he simply dubbed 'MacBook,' is expected to be unveiledat next week's Worldwide Developers Conference." The more angular MacBook Pro design that includes an optical drive,is also expected to get an Ivy Bridge refresh , and will continue in production for now. Keeping the currentunibody design in the MacBook Pro lineup may be something of amarketing test to see how the best-selling 13 inch MacBook Proholds up with direct Apple store competition from the 13-inchMacBook Air and new "MacBook." The real buzz is about the retina display that will likely show upon the new "MacBook," instead of a redesigned MacbookPro, as previously suspected. "Retina display technology debuted on the third generationiPad, which was released in March. A MacBook Pro with a retinadisplay has the potential to confidently move the 2012 MacBook Proto the head of the class, as far as laptops displays areconcerned," according to an earlier report . Apple calls its retina technology, "The best display ever ona mobile device. Its deeper color saturation and enhancedresolution has ‘a million more" pixels than anHDTV." A 13-inch MacBook Pro-MacBook Air hybrid, with a retina display andIvy Bridge processor would be the first of its kind for Apple, oranyone else in the laptop or Ultrabook market. Until now, theretina display has been reserved for the iPad, but all that may beabout to change with the new "MacBook."
