Eric Pertnoy found his love of writing in college and honed his skills when he became a writing tutor. What he found that he loved most of all was writing a research paper. Eric Pertnoy was certainly creative but truly enjoyed organizing and putting together the structure that would become a strong research paper. Before he sat down to write, Eric Pertnoy would create an outline and organize his notes. He found that the preparation before actually beginning the process of writing was half the battle. After everything was organized to his liking, Eric Pertnoy would write the first draft of his research paper. Depending on the subject area, a cohesive research paper can include: - Title Page: Eric Pertnoy’s papers always included an informative title that really explained to the reader what the paper was about.
- Abstract: Most research papers of scientific nature contain an abstract, or a summary of what the paper is about in a short, concise paragraph. Eric Pertnoy was always able to sum up his research in such an interesting way that any lay person would want to read it.
- Introduction: Every paper needs an introduction that explains why the subject needs to be talked about. Eric Pertnoy excelled at writing about the experiments he performed in chemistry and always had strong introductions. He would discuss his hypothesis and the design of his experiments and how they would be presented in the paper.
- Materials and Methods: Research papers should include a detailed section explaining the materials used in the experiments and this should be easy for a reader to reference. Eric Pertnoy was particularly strong in his descriptions of the methods used to perform his experiments. He never made this section sound like a list of instructions or included unnecessary, superfluous information.
- Results: Eric Pertnoy’s research papers always displayed the results in a well-organized, clear manner. This section should not interpret these results but it should summarize them. Eric Pertnoy included figures and tables in the results section that made the findings much easier to understand.
- Discussion: In the discussion section, the results should be interpreted and supportive of all of the conclusions stated. Eric Pertnoy’s strong grasp for writing the results section of the paper can explain why his papers have been published in well-respected scientific journals.
- Works Cited: The final section of a research paper contains the works cited in the proper format. Eric Pertnoy sometimes writes papers where no other sources were used and makes sure he notes these as such.
