Most major companies have their brand logo on several items as a way to promote the organization. These objects to be given away tend to be used, worn, or played with. Hats, hoodies, pens, Frisbees, highlighters, flash drives--you name it; it probably can have a company logo on it. Many businesses see these promo items as corporate image builders. Yet over time, these objects can lose their luster and not be of interest to anyone anymore. It may be time to dispose of these promo items. Yet instead of tossing them in the dumpster, consider recycling such items. Assess Items First of all, make an inventory of all the promotional items you have. You may wish to devise a spreadsheet on your computer and divide items by major categories. You can sort objects through "wearables" or "office supplies," for example. Then count how many of one item you have. For instance, you may have 150 pens in your stock. Estimate the dollar value for each type of promo giveaway. Think over which items you want to give away to the public and which items should be taken out of circulation. Maybe you updated your logo and don't need T-shirts with the old brand design on it. Or perhaps the bobble heads you're passing out are not appealing to customers as you hoped. After you've sorted through these promotional items, you may decide which ones are no longer useful to you. Recycling and Donating For the unwanted items, consider giving them away as prizes to employees at company events. Alternatively, find a national recycling website or locate a community bulletin board to sell these promotional items. If you don't think you'll get a profit out of these items, simply give them away free of charge. Consider donating and delivering these products to schools, charities, shelters, and small business centers. These organization are bound to enjoy these promotional items from corporate image builders.
