I don't know about you, but I am a person who has had a very long struggle with accepting myself-- just like I am. However, despite what my criticism about myself was, Father God would go to work to help me love, forgive and accept myself--just as He does. After quite some time, He said to me: "I want you to believe that it is a great good thing to be you-- simply because you have Me for your God!" Then He spelled out why. This ushered in so much emotional healing! Given that I can't change myself, it is a great good thing to have the kind of God I do as my personal Liberator and Best Friend! These five reasons hold true for you as well. Take confidence from them and get greater joy in your life in Christ. 1) Father God always loves you. Even while a Christian, there were long stretches when it meant hardly anything to me that God loved me. I wanted to get my life remedied! I didn't desire to be the person with so many issues to work with. What a shock to learn ( steadily) that God and Jesus wouldn't agree with me. The Lord went on cherishing me anyway! I would certainly hate being myself, if it meant that God couldn't love somebody like me, but given that He loves me so passionately and thoroughly, it actually is a great good thing to be me. 2) Your Father continually forgives you . As all of us grow in Christ, His search light of truth goes into the very depths . To become washed from the darkest stuff, you will need to be willing to truthfully evaluate details like awful attitudes, unbecoming desires, and self-seeking motivations. Yuck! I can't stand it that I possess such a corrupt side! Nevertheless, if you are a inveterate sinner like myself, it is a great good thing to be the one God has chosen to constantly forgive! 3) God your Father is constantly willing and capable to help you. He says "Call on Me and I will answer you" and He swears to deliver "all who call on His Name." That's you and me, right ? Perhaps you've had your trust damaged by others who didn't keep their word. Your God is never like that! He is ready and able to speed to your deliverance--in any predicament. Considering that I constantly seem to need a lot of support, it is a great good thing to be somebody that God perpetually chooses to rescue! 4) Your Father is always making perfect plans for you. God has ideas for how to deliver us in every scenario of need. But that is not all: He has designs for how to direct us by His Spirit any time we yield to Jesus as our Lord. But there is more: He also has designs for how to work through our refusal to surrender to bring us back to Jesus, so that He can lead us again. That's a load of plans! And I am pleased He never stops making them for me. 5) Your Father is constantly requiring all things to promote your good. When I initially came to faith in Christ, I started rounding up all the bad things that I hated for having happened and " inverted" them by trusting that they would work for a more significant good than the unmistakable evil that first came with them. In the end, my spirit glided free from the panics, resentment and discouragement that had been stifling it. I hated having had countless unpleasant things happen, but I really love having Somebody committed to producing good out of them! Do you see how these 5 powerful truths will help you take confidence that it really is a great good thing to be you? Get together me with this prayer: Due to my Father's unending love for me, His super-abundant mercy for me, the future and hope He intends for me, and His devotion to bring good things out of everything that has ever happened or will ever happen to me, it totally is a great, good thing to be me! I therefore promise to entirely forgive myself and accept myself--just as He does. And I will go to war to free my heart from all condemning attitudes against myself. I may have had a painful start, but I am going to have a wonderful never-ending! Steve Evans assists people in recovering their inward peace. Would like to read more about emotional healing?
