Often dubbed the central attraction of Bangkok's Champs Elysees, the Ananda Samakhom Throne Hall is an iconic landmark located within Dusit Palace. Situated in the palace's Royal Plaza this towering structure with a white facade is a famed point of interest frequented by locals and tourists alike. Commissioned to be built by King Rama V, work began in earnest as far back as 1907 and was only completed during the period when King Rama VI was sovereign of Thailand. The regal throne is located right beneath the central dome while a total of six domes adorn the venue. Fresco paintings of Chakri Dynasty rulers by Galileo Chini decorate the inner walls of the six domes while other prominent features includes emboss style roman motifs and floral designs from the Baroque and Renaissance periods which are found in the locale's long hallway. Famously used to house the first Thai Parliament after the coup in 1932 the Throne Hall is now used to host prestigious gatherings by the state council and the royal family as well as to entertain dignitaries.
