Beading Eye - The Importance of Sight in Beaded Jewellery Making

Crafts,Hobbies
Beading is a wonderful hobby that takes a set of many different things and turns them into something wonderful. However, when beading, having a good eye is most important if you are trying to make it look good. This is especially true with beading, where you can be working with a variety of beads and colours—from large, colorful glass beads or tiny, seed beads. Being able to see a pattern clearly and distinguish individual colours is especially important if you are attempting to follow a pattern. With some skills in life, if lacking in one sense, you can pick up the slack with another. This isn’t so with beading, where a good eye and a good feel are both required to make the best looking jewellery. You need to be able to see thin, sometimes clear-colored thread, needles, and tiny holes in beads clearly if you want to save yourself a lot of time and hassle and not getting stuck doing the same thing over and over until you get it right.

If your eyesight is starting to not be as sharp as it used to, you should always go to the eye doctor and get it checked. A new pair of glasses isn’t just useful in beading, but for driving and other daily tasks. Sometimes all it takes is a little adjustment or switching to bifocals to get us seeing clearly again. However, sometimes, buying a new pair of glasses isn’t an option. If you can’t fix your eyesight all together, there are still options so you can get back to your beading hobby without too much fuss.

If you only need to see for beading, then a magnifying glass might be a better option. You can pick up a cheap one at your local chemists, however, having to hold a glass and trying to thread beads isn’t an easy task. For this, they invented tabletop magnifying glasses—magnifiers on stands, so you can set your book or your beads underneath and continue to do your work as normal. These magnifiers aren’t as expensive as you think—you can find them for as little as £14 on Google Shopping, depending upon what size and magnification you want.

If you don’t like tabletop magnifiers and you already wear glasses, you can also buy magnifiers that clip on to your head and glasses, that you can adjust and move to your leisure. This allows you not to be confined to a table, and allows you to move while beading to get just the right feel for it. These clip on magnifiers are fairly inexpensive and go for as little as £6 on the internet.

Whatever you choose, make sure it is the best option for you. Beading is your hobby, and you want to enjoy it with as little hassle as possible. Pick whichever option feels right, and make sure you can put up with it for long periods of time; you want to enjoy your beading to the finest, after all!

Sight is very important when working with beads as there are things such as thin thread that is sometimes difficult to see. This article details why sight is so important when beading and ways to improve your sight. Cooksongold has a wide range of beading materials, as do other retailers.
