The archipelago of Maldives is scattered across the warm, blue waters of the Laccadive Sea. There are over a thousand of these low lying islands scattered about although only about two hundred are habitable. It is a world class destination for a variety of water related activities such as surfing, snorkelling, and scuba diving. There is no denying that Maldives' popularity as a tourist destination has to do with the fact that it has some of the best beaches in the world. Beaches on different islands offer different experiences and tourists should try to visit a few of them instead of sticking to just one. One should also visit the beaches on Nalaguraidhoo Island, which has gorgeous gardens; Veligandu Island; and Ihuru Island, which has a sizeable turtle population. Some of the best beaches are found on Maldives resort islands. Anantara Veli Maldives is situated on a private island and has an amazing beach. The beach, with its white sands and cobalt blue waters, is situated right outside the resort and guests will have plenty of fun trying out some of the water sports available or just lounging in the sun. Those who cannot get enough of the ocean can try staying at their over water Maldives bungalows. Built on stilts right over the water, these bungalows allow guests to sleep with the soothing sounds of waves moving gently beneath them, providing a truly magical holiday.
