News AlertMe Announces Smart Home OSGi Controls Platform and Partnershipwith Deutsche Telekom (11/10/2011) AlertMe, the Smart Home technology company, today announces thedevelopment of an open standards (OSGi) controls platform and apartnership with Deutsche Telekom, Germany"s largesttelecommunications company, to develop a set of home managementapplications for its Smart Connect platform. The partnership withDeutsche Telekom represents the first tier-one European Telcopartnership for AlertMe and follows the announcement of itsstrategic partnership and commercial agreement with the UK"slargest utility British Gas, worth over £20 million inproduct and services delivery. The AlertMe OSGi platform has the capability to address and adoptthe widest range of devices and applications in the home,independent of their manufacturer or communications technology. Inaddition, an open, intelligent and expandable controls platform candeliver real value for partners, enabling faster and more costeffective deployment and the ability to roll out their own devices,applications and services. For device/appliance manufacturers itmeans they can connect to a standards-based platform rather thanbuilding their own. For consumers it offers greater choice and flexibility of devicesand the ability to control everything in their home from a singleonline interface rather than logging into multiple portals. It alsoenables the configuration of devices and appliances in the home andautomation that allows devices to work together intelligentlythrough Machine-to-Machine communication (M2M).
