News KNX Association Elects New Executive Board with Stephan Bauer asPresident (31/3/2011) General Assembly elects a new Executive Board for the worldwidestandard for home and building automation The international KNX Association elected a new President at itsGeneral Assembly in Warsaw (Poland). Stephan Bauer (Siemens SchweizAG) succeeds Godehardt Schneider (Siemens AG), who was thepresident of KNX Association for six years. Bernard Schott (HagerGroup) was appointed Vice President for the next five years. The Assembly also elected eleven new members to the board(Executive Board). The board is responsible for the internationalstrategy of the KNX Association. It monitors all the worldwidemarketing and technical activities of KNX. It issues and approves abudget proposal each year which must be ratified by the KNX GeneralAssembly. In his closing speech, Godehardt Schneider looked back on thedevelopments of the past years: "We have succeeded in makingKNX a strong brand while the new ETS4 commissioning tool marks amilestone in the development of KNX." This statement ismirrored in the current figures realised by KNX. Since 2005, thenumber of KNX member companies has quadrupled. There are currentlymore than 230 manufacturers from 30 countries. The growth of KNXpartners is even more impressive: more than 24,000 systemintegrators from 110 countries have been certified to date –5,000 of these were registered last year alone. The monthly salesfigures for the KNX commissioning software ETS have more thantripled since the introduction of the new ETS4 version in October2010. The new KNX President will focus heavily on internationalisation The new President and his board have set themselves a number ofgoals for the future. "KNX cannot appeal to its strengths inEurope alone. We must become significantly more active on a globalscale. If we gain more members in Asia, North and South America andAustralia and support the KNX activities in these locations, ourlong-term success will be ensured", said Stephan Bauer. TheKNX Association has already started to occupy a stronger positionin these international markets. With 6 new members in the USA andthe foundation of the national group in Australia, the firstcornerstones of increased internationalisation have been laid. Thenext steps are currently being undertaken in South East Asia andthe Middle East with vigour.
