If anyone were to come up to you right now and tell you that IT staffing doesn’t require a lot of work, you would probably laugh at them. Your idea of staffing involves placing ads, collecting resumes, sorting through those resumes, and then setting up a long round of preliminary interviews. This could take weeks in order to find an individual to fill one of your IT jobs. There is an easier way to go about staffing.

Avoid the Time

There is a significant amount of time involved with IT staffing. You have to sort through all of the resumes in order to find out is qualified. There is a common trend, especially in today’s economy, where people will apply for the position, even though they do not qualify. While these individuals are hoping to get lucky, it adds more paperwork on your desk because you have to sort them out of the pile.

Additionally, with IT staffing, you have to wait for all of the resumes to roll in. As soon as you place an ad, you have to give it a day or two before people read it and begin responding – and this is true whether it is online or off-line. This means that it may take you a week or longer in order to obtain a pile decent enough to sit down and begin sorting through.

Avoid the Expense

There are a variety of expenses involved with IT staffing. You have to place an ad somewhere. This can be in the newspaper, on a recruiting website, or any other place. Additionally, if you have a job fair, you have the expense of staffing as well as paper applications, swag, and various other things in order to attract quality applicants to your booth.

Additionally, you have added labor because of having to sort through the resumes. Unless you have some sort of applicant tracking system, you will have to sort through all of the resumes by hand. This means combing through education and experience of hundreds if not thousands of resumes. This is likely an expense that you can’t afford – but it is a necessity because you are taking the long way to finding a qualified individual for an IT job.

Recruiting Companies Do the Work for You

IT staffing doesn’t require a lot of work if you choose a recruiting company because they do the work for you. As soon as you have an open position, you call the recruiter and tell them what position you need to fill. They will ask you if you need a temporary position to get you started until a qualified individual can fill the permanent position. This means that you could have a person in your open position as early as tomorrow.

The recruiter specializes in IT staffing. This means that you don’t need to spend the time or the money looking for applicants. They will do everything for you – and send you the cream of the crop for the final hiring decision.
