Travel and volunteer work can come together to make a vacation that is fulfilling in many ways. The volunteering services not only pertains to the learning but also to the different preschool operations such as administration work, guiding field trips, earning support, curriculum implementation etc. The Ngobe Indian village is located on Bocas del Toro Island in Panama. It is an island archipelago on the Caribbean side, close to the border of Costa Rica. Volunteers are comfortably accommodated on Isla Bastimentos which is quite close to the oceanfront. It is just a stone’s throw away from Bahia Honda. Volunteers can take a boat ride and reach their volunteer locationin a shorttime. There are various volunteering programs being run in the region. Most of these programs are aimed at improving the educational, environmental and community development status of the region. There are various educational projects undertaken by the volunteering organizations in the region. Some of these include preschool programs; whereas, some are dedicated to the after-school programs or summer camps. Some preschool programs are run for children as young as aged 3-5, and up to 6-12. English classes are also run for the adult’s toimprove their communication skills and their understanding of the English language. There are various other community development projects that are run in the Honda Bahai region. Some of these include environmental and sustainability programs such as water tank installations, sustainable chicken projects, and beach clean ups. There are various construction projects as well that include playground, dining hall/ kitchen, recycling centre etc. Volunteers not only participate in the community development projects but also get to experience the indigenous Ngobe village and get immersed in the Panamanian culture. Through these projects, volunteers can give their best to the community and also have a splendid time.
