1. Learn the "Four tones" of Mandarin as soon as possible.

Just Google or baidu for "Four tones of Chinese" or "sheng diao in pinyin" , you will find about 9,150,000 results (just need 0.26 seconds). So i have to say interent is a great thing. 2. Find a native or fluent Chinese speaker.
You learn four tones of mandarin online but you need make sure your pronunciation is right. Then you need a native Chinese speaker to help you. He can tell you some tips or serects' method for a totally right tones.
3. Learn to say "Ni Hao."
"Ni Hao" is hello or hi in English. This short Chinese phrase can be a very generic greeting term. When you have a meet with a stranger or a new co-worker, you can say it when you shake hands with them.
4. Learn to say "Zao Shang Hao".
"Zao Shang Hao" means "Good Morning" in English,Hyrraa huomenta in Finnish,"Bonjour" in French. When you wake up and you can say "Zao Shang Hao" to your partner. Or you can say "Zao Shang Hao" when meet your neighbour in the morning.
5.Learn to say "Xie Xie".
