Once again, members of the Westfield/Mayville Rotary Club marveledat the activities and class rankings in which its Students of theMonth, all seniors, are involved. Rotarian Dan Smith, NewGenerations chair, welcomed the four students and introduced NathanHarp and Meghan Roberts. Phyllis Crockett introduced Nicole Damcottand Kaitlyn Elderkin. Brocton Central School Meghan Marie Roberts has a current cumulative average of 90 and isregularly on the honor roll. Last year she participated in theRotary District 7090 Student Leadership Award Program for StudentHigh on Training, or SLAPSHOT, for which she was sponsored by theWestfield/Mayville Rotary Club. Her school involvements includeserving as Brocton Interact Club secretary, four-year membership inStudent Council, the yearbook staff and prom committee. This year,Meghan has been asked to join a new program at Brocton calledSources of Strength as a peer leader. Meghan has been in chorus andband since fourth grade and is in the BCS spring musical, "Oliver."She also was selected to participate in the CCMTZ Jazz Choir inSilver Creek. Sports involvement includes four years of volleyball,three of basketball and seven in softball. She also has taken dancelessons with Tapin' Toes Performing Arts for 13 years. An activevolunteer in her community, Meghan is a member of the BroctonBooster Club, is an independent Girl Scout and a Red Crosscertified lifeguard and blood donor. The daughter of Ken and SusanRoberts, Meghan plans to attend Edinboro University to major inspeech pathology and audiology. Westfield Academy and Central School Nathan Harp has been enrolled in coursework for four years. Duringhis junior year, he was enrolled in music theory and English. Inaddition, he has studied functional anatomy of the limbs, UnitedStates military history and We the People. Also, during his senioryear, he attended Jamestown Community College to study English andmusic: aural skills. Nathan will have earned 13 college credits bygraduation this spring at which time he will receive a RegentsDiploma with Advanced Designation with Honors. A member of theAcademic High School Bowl and Conservative Club, he served as theninth grade class president. During his sophomore year, Nathan wasselected for induction into the National Honor Society. Inaddition, he has won many awards, including the Wells College 21stCentury Leadership Award, and named the JCC Connections Junior ofthe Year. A four-year member of Senior High Band and two years inSenior High Chorus, Nathan played guitar in the musical,"Hairspray" and is a member of the McClurg Street String Band. Inthe Westfield community, Nathan is an active member of the FirstBaptist Church and has held employment at Sapore's and K & HPainting. The son of Kevin ad Jennifer Harp of Westfield, Nathanwill attend JCC to pursue a degree in communications. Sherman Central School Nicole Damcott, a senior ranked fifth in her class with a 95percent average, is taking Advanced Placement chemistry, JamestownCommunity College English, physics, economics and pre-calculus. Shehas been on the honor roll throughout her high school years and isa member of Sherman's National Honor Society. Vice president of herclass during her high school years, she also is president of theschool's Fellowship of Christian Students. Nicole enjoys runningcross-country, playing basketball and shooting trap for theschool's teams. Outside of school, she works on her family's dairyfarm in Ripley. She also enjoys attending Footsteps, a group ofyoung adults that come together and try to introduce to andstrengthen others in the Christian faith. Some of her hobbiesinclude sports, reading, hunting and being outdoors. The daughterof Maynard and Deborah Damcott, Nicole plans to attend JCC for twoyears before transferring to a university to become a physician'sassistant and, ultimately, a pediatrician so that she can work withchildren. Chautauqua Lake Central School Kaitlyn Elderkin is ranked in the top 15 percent of her class andwill receive an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors upongraduation. Enrolled in several college-level courses at CLCS, sheis co-president of Peer Education, Student Administrationtreasurer, yearbook editor, National Honor Society historian and amember of the High School Bowl academic team and peer tutor. Shehas received several honors and recognitions, including the Bauschand Lomb Honorary Science Award, the Rensselaer Medal andoutstanding work in math. She also has been named Student of theMonth. Kaity excels on the soccer field and in track as captain ofboth teams and was named a First Team Track All-Star and SecondTeam Honorable Mention for soccer. Outside of school, Kaityvolunteers her time for many community organizations, including theSalvation Army Bell Ringing, Elementary Fun Night and numeroushours for the Ashville Fire Department. She has been employed byHogan's Hut and Camp Chautauqua. In her spare time, she enjoysscrapbooking and photography. The daughter of Jon and MelissaGrover of Ashville, she plans to attend Jamestown CommunityCollege, Courtland or Brockport to pursue studies in mathematics,health or counseling.
