The new LED technology called piezoelectric phototronics, by identifying the different pressures on the material surface, tiny “spot mosaic” can make different reflection, so that the computer can analyze it, thereby generating the resolution image that is added as the pressure on the surface of the material. Incredibly, the spatial resolution of these LED nanowires is 2.7 microns (1 mm = 1000 microns), which makes that its pixel density can reach 6350DPI (about the sensor resolution of the digital SLR camera CMOS). By detecting the pressure applied on the finger, the computer can calculate the reaction of the LED to generate accurate fingerprint images.
This technology will be used to including fingerprint identification and signature capture other aspects, the researchers believe the diameter of the nanowires can be further reduced to further improve the accuracy of acquisition. More importantly, the researchers said the technology is compatible with existing chip,which can be better applied to different solutions.
