The EU is key exported markets of China’s LED lighting products. With LED lighting products entering the EU market, its mandatory requirements should be the mainly considered: Low Voltage Directive and the safety requirements its harmonized standards prescribes, electromagnetic compatibility directives and the electromagnetic compatibility requirements the harmonized standards prescribes, the environmental requirements in RoHS & WEEE directive and the energy efficiency requirements the ErP directive specifies. For the safety of LED modules: should meet the safety requirements of EN62031, LED module connector must meet the corresponding requirements of EN60838-2-2; for the electronic control device of the LED lighting devices: should meet the corresponding safety requirements of the EN61347-1 and EN61347-2-13;
For the device optical radiation safety: shall conform to the corresponding requirements of the EN62471;
For the self-ballasted LED lights: they should meet the relevant requirements of EN60968;
For LED lamps: they should meet corresponding fixture standard safety requirements of the EN60598-1 and EN60598-2 series.
EMF requirements, but also meet the evaluation criteria EN62493 requirements related to that human exposure to electromagnetic fields of lighting equipment.
In addition, LED lighting products must comply with EU EMC Directive (2004/108/EC) requirements, compared with the same general lighting, LED lighting products for the EU EMC requirements are divided into electromagnetic disturbance, immunity, harmonic current and voltage fluctuations four aspects. As far as the environment is concerned, the related regulations of EU and the LED lamps are mainly ” Restrictions on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment ” (RoHS, 2002/95/EC) and the “Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive” (WEEE, 2002/96/EC)published in 2003, which were provided for hazardous substances and waste products recycling requirements.
EU for the energy efficiency requirements of the LED lighting products, are primarily reflected in the ” Framework Directive of developing energy-related products ecodesign requirements ” (referred to ErP Directive), currently for the LED lighting products, the energy efficiency requirements of non-directional LED general lighting products should in accordance with the requirements of the (EU) No244/2009 of ErP Directive Implementation Regulation, other performance requirements refer to the requirements of the implementation regulations (EU) No1194/2012. The energy efficiency requirements and performance requirements of the directional LED lamp shall be in accordance with the requirements of the implementing regulations (EU) No1194/2012. In addition, LED lighting products should meet the appropriate energy efficiency labeling requirements. (EU) No874/2012 regulations is the implementation for new energy efficiency label Framework Directive 2010/30/EU on the lamp and the fix, which suitable for incandescent, fluorescent, high intensity discharge lamps, LED lamps and LED modules, but also for those operating such lamps and fixtures available to the end consumer (also integrated into other products, including lamps) proposed labeling requirements. Regulations make clear the responsibility the suppliers, dealers should bear for the efficiency labels and product information, the regulations will be put into effect September 1, 2013, the existing energy efficiency labeling Directive of the home electricity source 98/11/EC will also be abolished on 1 September. 2013
