To the left of the foyer are French doors to the living room whichthe current owner uses as a library. It is large enough, at 15 by19, to comfortably hold a grand piano. The room has a hardwoodfloor, crown molding, decorative wood trim and wide baseboard.
French doors open from the living room into a 13-by-19 study whichhas wall-to-wall carpeting, double sliding doors to the front yardand multiple jacks for computers and related peripherals. The roomis also plumbed for a wet bar. A large carpeted hallway off the living room functions as adressing room and entrance to a first floor master bedroom. Thehallway has three closets, a walk-in cedar closet and two largehis-and-her closets with built-in shelve systems. "I wanted to make a cook's kitchen because we cook allthe time," said the homeowner.
"It's a truecook's kitchen with lots of prep space and storage." Appliances are top-of-the-line and include a six-burner Wolf gascooktop with hood and a Sub-Zero pro series refrigerator. There are lots of gadgets, such as a pot filler over the stove, afancy dish sprayer at the sink and custom-designed cabinetry,including a pull-out shelf to store a mixer. The customized storagespaces add to efficiency and minimize clutter. There is a walk-in pantry as well as a pantry cabinet with pull-outshelves, an apron-front farmer's sink and a center islandwith a sink and a Caesarstone countertop.
There is a large eat-inarea with a built-in china cabinet and a glass door to the deck andpatio. The kitchen is as beautiful as it is practical with white cabinets,hardwood floor, blue-pearl granite countertops, glass tile andCarrera marble backsplash throughout. The owner describes the look as "understated elegance." "It's got all the bells and whistles, but it looksgreat," said the homeowner. "Even if you don'tcook or entertain as much as we do, it's still a greatspace." A wide mudroom hallway includes a half bath, door to the three-carattached garage and a first-floor laundry with beadborad panelingand a folding area with a granite countertop. The family room has a cathedral beamed ceiling with fan, archedtransom windows with wood trim, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplaceand glass doors to the patio.
The room is filled with light fromwindows on three sides. The elegant staircase to the second floor leads to a landing largeenough for a reading area or workstation. Four family bedrooms and two full baths are on the second floor.Each room has generous windows for lots of natural light and largecloset and storage space. One bedroom has a sitting room andstairway to the garage for its own entrance.
There is a second laundry room on this floor. The finished basement is as impressive as the rest of the housewith a workshop, exercise room, carpeted family room with a brickfireplace and a bar area with a tile floor. Numerous deep storagecabinets include a cedar closet. There is also a half bath on this level.
