Limestone slabs are one of the hardest materials used to construct homes and buildings. This is why cutting them should be done only by experts. However, there are a lot of people who want to do do-it-yourself (DIY) home projects involving limestone slabs, thus here are some of the tips on how to cut limestone slabs like an expert. To do this, you need to have the right tools to be able to cut the limestone cleanly. Here are the things that you need to procure so that you can do the job correctly. Step1 - Measure Your Limestone Slab to the Dimension That You Want To Cut Before you begin, it is important that you observe safety precautions more than anything else. Don a pair of gloves and protect your eyes by wearing work goggles. Once you have done this and are all set, measure the limestone slab to the desired dimension that you want to cut. Use a pencil and a meter stick to do this. On the other hand, trace the pattern that you want to cut on your slab if you are going to work with different shapes for your limestone slab. However, you need to remember that the more complicated and curvy the patterns are on your slab, the more difficult it is to cut your slab. Step 2 - Cut Your Limestone Slab Using the Right Diamond Saw Since you will be using limestone, choose the specialized diamond floor saw to cut your pattern on your limestone slab. However, make sure that you mount your limestone slab on a hard and steady working surface. While cutting, it is important that you work with steady hands. Turn on your floor saw and cut along the pattern that you have made earlier. Use a guide block to insure a straight cut, especially if you want to cut through geometric designs on your limestone tile. In order to be able to get precise and accurate edges, make sure that you do not rush your work. Rushing on the cutting process leads not only to edges not as straight as you want them to be, but there might also be a tendency for the limestone slab to crack. This is what you want to avoid. Step 3 - Smooth Out the Edges Using A Sandpaper Machine Once you have cut the limestone slab, you need to make sure that you smooth out the edges first before you use the slab. Any rough edges on the limestone slab are very sharp and ff you do not smooth or clean the edges, accidents are bound to happen. You can smooth out the edges by using a power sander, which will help you achieve a smoother edge on your slab in no time at all. Finally, let me have a short conclusion.
