The difference in USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 technology can also be viewed by the change in the number of connector lines. USB 2.0 cables transferred data with the help of four connector lines in which two were used for in and out data transfer, one for power and one for grounding. Now, the number of connector lines has increased with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 with the addition of five more lines in which four aids in speed and two are dedicated for data transmitters. Apart from this, the other two left are used for handling the received information.
Bi- direction Data Transfer Possible with USB 3.0
The best benefit of these additional lines is that it has made bi-directional data transfer possible which allows the drive to read as well as write content to your desktop external hard drive together. The addition of more lines has certainly made the USB 3.0 cable look thicker than USB 2.o cable.
Though there are various products available in the market with USB 3.0 technology however, the number of products and the usage of this technology in various electronic devices is expected to see a steep rise in the coming years.
