The second trend of using cards was presented by merchants where they used simple printed cards to market their products as well as providing maps and guides on how to reach them in a city. The cards were also used as promissory notes in many cases. As marketing methods grew and found new resources, the use of trading cards naturally diminished. The modern living methods have also decreased the difference of living standard among people of various social standings. Basic facilities are now available to almost all people especially in the developed world. All these factors led to the arrival of modern business cards which are not only used for formal introductions but also provide an insight into the social status of a person by his or her association with a successful company or business.
