A stone wall is a unique and inexpensive way to provide a rustic, distinctive appearance to either the interior or the exterior of your home. This method of enhancing the design of your building involves using a combination of different man-made ingredients to give the appearance of a natural type of stone casing. The stone may be used as a grounding device to help provide a flat surface to walk on. It may also be used to reinforce a wall and to provide a unique appearance to a vertical space as well. In the case of the stone veneer wall, a number of different problems can arise. Read on for a step-by-step guide to fixing some of these problems. Step 1 - Analyze the Problem Different problems in stone veneer walls require different treatment and solution plans. The most common problem is the cracking of a certain part of the stone veneer. Because the veneer itself is thin, it doesn't have the same structural stability as a true stone wall would. For this reason, it's easier for the stone veneer to develop cracks and other signs of damage. Be aware of other problems as well, including broken chunks of the wall, fading of the color of the sandstone wall and more. Step 2 - Repair Cracks and Damaged Areas In order to repair a small crack or another minor area of damage in the stone veneer wall, you'll likely need some cubic stone-safe putty. Available at a hardware or home improvement store, this putty is easy to mix up in batches according to how much you need. Follow the instructions for mixing. Use a putty knife to then apply it directly to the surface crack. If the crack runs deeper and may cause structural damage to the veneer wall, you might need to take the time to remove that portion of the wall and replace it entirely; fortunately, most minor problems are small scratches and cracks that can be easily repaired. Allow the putty to dry, then sand it down so that it's smooth with the wall. If you wish to add paint to the putty to make it appear similar to the wall, do this at this time. Step 3 - Repair Large Damaged Areas If you need to completely repair or replace a section of the veneer wall, you'll first need to use a hammer and chisel to remove that portion of the limestone wall. Next, mix up a new batch of stone veneer materials according to the instructions, and apply the stone veneer to the new wall area. This is best done with the aid of someone else who can help to ensure that the veneer doesn't spill or become uneven. Treat the wall with sealant after the veneer has dried in order to protect the gaps in between the older portion of the veneer and the new area that you just installed. Finally, let me have a short conclusion.
