Reasons Why Yoga Is Recommended

Health
Yoga is a science which has been practiced for several thousands of years. The practice consists of ancient principles, theories and observations about the connection of the mind and body as proven by modern medicine. Research has been performed to determine the benefits of yoga- including the meditation, yoga breathing (Pranayama) and yoga postures (Asanas).

To derive maximum benefits it is important to practice with a trainer who has received the relevant training from a reputable yoga teacher training. The benefits of yoga can be grouped into 3 categories- biochemical, psychological and physiological effects. The reasons why yoga is recommended include:

· Lowers chances of heart attack

When you engage in yoga, you get the heart rate to the aerobic range; as a result you lower the risks of a heart attack, relieving depression. Some yoga postures are not aerobic, but Ashtanga classes help to boost the heart rate within the aerobic range. However, even yoga postures that do not get the heart rate up can help improve cardiovascular conditioning.

According to research studies, yoga exercises boost the heart rate, improve the levels of oxygen and increase endurance during exercise. According to a single study, it was discovered that participants who were taught pranayama had the ability of doing more exercises with less oxygen.

· Lowers high blood pressure

According to studies, people with high blood pressure can benefit a great deal from yoga retreat. The effect of the Corpse Pose (Savasana) which involves lying down on a couch is associated with a drop in systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure.

· Boost the circulation of blood

Yoga also helps to boost the levels of hemoglobin as well as red blood cells, which help to carry oxygen to tissues. Practitioners experience thinning of the blood, making the platelets to become less sticky and cutting levels of the clot promoting proteins within the blood. This result in reduced chances of strokes and heart attacks considering blood clots are responsible for causing these killers.

· Lowers cortisol levels

As a result of an acute crisis, the adrenal glands often secrete cortisol. This helps to boost the immune function, temporarily. The temporary boosts of the cortisol seek to enhance long-term memory. However, high levels can undermine the memory, leading to permanent changes within the brain.

Furthermore, excessive cortisol is linked with chronic depression, osteoporosis, insulin resistance and high blood pressure. According to studies, high cortisol levels result in "food-seeking behavior". The body takes these extra calories to distribute them as abdomen fat, leading to weight gain, risks of a heart attack and diabetes.
