NETWORKING Networks aren’t just collections of hardware – they are the pathway that defines application performance, information integrity, all aspects of how you run your business now and years from now. There is a need for a holistic approach to building the next generation of networks where information, applications and users can be anywhere in the cloud. This approach enables a unified, simple management platform, enables choice for customers and allows businesses to deploy and manage the applications they have today, and be ready for those they don’t even know are coming in the future. Subhodeep Bhattacharya, Regional Director - India and SAARC, NETGEAR Shubhodeep’s role at Netgear can be certainly referred to as Technology Evangelist. He looks at relevance of a technology as applied to the SME, SMB and SOHO and constantly assesses the need and the feasibility to bring in and adapt technology specifically for these segments. He is adept in spotting trends and needs in SMB/SME and considering technologies which can serve these needs and can be made less complicated without necessary sacrificing the high end benefits. With the ever increasing demand for storage, Shubhodeep feels there is a need for price effective units which can afford De-duplication, unlimited snapshots, thin provisioning and replication aimed at the midmarkets. Shubhodeep spends his time in understanding what the customer needs and how much will the customer be willing to pay to satisfy that need. According to him, a technology evangelist’s contribution lies in the ability to translate a need into defined products within the budget.
