What in the world is thermal technology? It is an up and coming technology that has a lot to do with alternative energy technology. Thermal technology uses one of the most common forms of energy-heat. Thermodynamics is the study of laws that govern movement of heat. One expert breaks down thermodynamics like this, “if we were to put a hot cup of coffee in a freezer, it wouldn’t take long for the coffee to cool down.” This happens because heat travels from the hot item and escapes quickly into the cold air and continue to do so until the hot item (coffee) are the same temperature. Turning heat into energy that is useful is not easy. There have been advancements in the field of thermal technology. According to the latest research, the latest application of thermal technology has to do with capturing the sun’s heat to produce energy.Thermal and mechanical engineering services are used in a variety of industries such as Automotive, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Food and Dairy. Many companieshave very specific criteria regarding thermal processing and thermal oxidizes equipments such as stress relief ovens and regenerative thermal oxidizers. An area of thermal technology is hydrogen embrittlment. Hydrogen embrittlement occurs when atomic hydrogen enters steel and other alloys. Hydrogen is the smallest known atom and is the most abundant in the universe. There are two types of hydrogen embrittlment; an environmental type which relates to hydrogen in the environment through corrosion and embrittlement failure due to processes during manufacturing. Thermal oxidizers include regenerative thermal oxidizers, catalytic, recuperative, straight incineration and abatement and scrubber combinations. In regard to hydrogen embrittlement relief or stress relief ovens, many suppliers offer an oven with twin independent conveying systems that transfer workbaskets through oven maintaining a consistent bake temperature. These stress relief ovens process over 48,000 pounds at one time. A regenerative thermal oxidizer is an industrial process that treats exhaust air. It is part of the function of thermal technology. According to studies, the heat is absorbed by ceramic material and the captured heat preheats the incoming process gas stream. A regenerative thermal oxidizer is intended to receive polluted waste gases from an industrial process. Stress relief ovens use a heat treatment that removes stress-induced metals from various manufacturing procedures. Stress relief typically removes internal stresses that have accumulated in material. A stress relief oven is used for stress relieving stainless steel shafts used in turbines after a welding process. Thermal technology encompasses three core products:regenerative thermal oxidizers, industrial dryers and ovens such as a stress relief oven and waste heat recovery.
