The first model of Linksys that supported the third part firmware was Linksys WRT54G series router. The Linksys WRT160N/ WRT310N series is the advance version of Linksys WRT54G router. All the non-wired Router like Linksys usually work with DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) to get the IP address for the device like any system or router itself. DHCP helps the user to lessen the work for configuring the network manually that needs to plug in the device to the network and then remove it also. You might perhaps needs to deactivate DHCP function from your Linksys Router, it’s mainly because the many unnecessary network problem arises and also create problem in VOIP network, or u may have to connect other routers to the network due to many reasons. Instructions: If you are using are connected with the wireless connection, then first make it as wired connection by connecting a LAN cable with one with the system port and other with the router. Launch the browser now and type ‘192.168.1.1’in the address bar and press “Enter” key to go to the router area. Now when you reach to the router login page, enter the username and password in the textbox and click on “OK” or on “Login” button to move further for the router setting page. To fetch this page, you need to fill the correct credentials. Usually you the default username in this router is Blank and password is ‘admin’. It is suggested usually, to go through the manual provided by the router before getting in into this section. Once you get into this router configuration section, now, go to “Setup” option. Click on the “Network Setup” in the “Basic Setup” tab and choose “Disable” option. Now click on the “Save Settings” option at the footer of the page. You will also notice a DHCP tab or a DHCP Server checkbox in the configuration page of your Linksys router which solely dependent on the version of your router. If you find a DHCP server with the Enable or Disable feature then, click on the Disable button. Click on “Apply” button to save the settings and make an exit from this window.
