Driving School In Kitchener May Make Driving Through Snow A Joyride

Education
Driving a car or a two wheeler in Canada during winter is more like a challenge than mere driving due to the slippery conditions of the road. Not only amateurs but even expert drivers find it difficult to wade through snowy roads at this time of the year. It is extremely important to learn to drive carefully along with perfection so that you reach your destination safely. Taking some measures to ensure the safety of you and the others on the road may keep accidents away.

1. Watch out for black ice.

Black ice is a thin layer of ice that forms on the road that is under shade or on bridges. Such areas freeze faster and the ice that forms on them is invisible to the driver. As the ice forms on asphalt that is black in colour, the ice is named black ice. Keep a note of the areas where black ice forms so that you know where to be overly cautious.

2. Keep the headlights of your car on while driving.

Kitchener has some roads that have sharp turns; keeping the headlights on will give a signal of your presence to any vehicle approaching from the opposite side. Furthermore, winter and snow means decreased visibility which is why driving with headlights on is a safe way.

3. Have control over the steering wheel and avoid sudden turns.

On sharp turns, it is advisable to slow down and turn smoothly to avoid losing control over the vehicle. A driving school is the perfect zone where you can learn to drive under sharp curves.

4. Avoid sudden braking and speeding.

Any of the sudden movements on ice may cause you to lose control and cause accidents. Start slowly on ice so that you get more traction and gradual pressure on the brakes so as to avoid skidding.

5. Judge the driving speed as per the road condition.

The speed limit board that you see on the road is the maximum limit of speed that you can drive up to. However, in winter it is advised to keep the speed below the limit as in winter, there is uncertainty regarding the condition of roads such as presence of black ice or a fallen tree that is covered in snow and not visible to you.

6. Follow the succeeding car from a safe distance

Under snowy conditions, it takes longer to stop or slow your car due to less friction between the road and the tires of your car. Hence, if a car ahead of you suddenly applies brakes, you should have the space to stop your car. A distance of 4-6 seconds may be enough to make sure you stop before you crash in to the other car.

Keeping the above conditions in mind, it is preferred to enroll in a driving school so that you get all the required training for driving under various conditions. Kitchener has got some of the best driving schools in Canada that provide driving lessons under expert guidance. Be sure to check them and enrol for the best driving school in Kitchener.
