Visit Chandigarh the City Where the fun Never Ends

Travel & Tourism
Chandigarh proudly owns the distinction of being the first planned city in independent India. The conception and development of this city has everything to do with the partition of Punjab during independence. The erstwhile capital of Punjab went to Pakistan and the government decided to build a new city from scratch for the Indian state of Punjab. Le Corbusier is the famous French architect who was the main person behind the planning and development of this city into a bustling but planned metropolis. Being the capital of both Punjab and Haryana, this city is extremely important as an administrative center. However, it is also home to a large number of places that attract tourists from all over the country and the world. Thus, a Chandigarh travel guide is in order for those people who intend to visit this thriving city in North India.

How to Reach Chandigarh –

The city of Chandigarh, being one of the most important urban centers in the northern part of the country, enjoys excellent connectivity with the rest of India. Thus, tourists need not lose any sleep wondering about how to reach Chandigarh in the most efficient and inexpensive manner. The local airport is at a distance of 12 km from the city center and enjoys good connectivity with cities like Delhi, Amritsar, and Leh. Chandigarh also has connectivity with the rest of the country via major trains. Two major trains run daily from Delhi to Chandigarh, the Shatabdi Express, and Himalayan Queen. Chandigarh enjoys excellent road connectivity because of the two National Highways that connect it with rest of the country. Buses of various kinds such as ordinary, deluxe, and air-conditioned coaches run between Chandigarh and the neighboring cities.

Chandigarh Tourist Attractions –

Apart from being a major administrative center, Chandigarh is home to a large number of museums, art galleries, gardens, and theme parks that the tourists are bound to find interesting and attractive. This complex is the cynosure of the grand architectural tradition of this city built by Le Corbusier. • The Botanical Gardens can be the ideal picnic spot for the tourists with the gardens adorning a prominent place in the city. This place also houses a wide variety of plant species and can be quite alluring to the nature lovers. • The Rose Garden is the largest such garden in Asia with an area covering 17 acres and housing over 1600 plants along with several rare plant species. • Tourists can visit various other places of attractions in and around the city such as the BougainvilleaGarden, Leisure valley, Fitness Trails, Rock Garden, TerracedGarden, and SukhnaLake. • FunCity is a water amusement park where tourists can avail the services of the WaterPark, Amusement Park, and Resort.
