A good cup of gourmet coffee is just about the most delicious thing in the world, and it truly meant to be savored. When speaking of gourmet coffee, a few types come to mind. In my mind some there are three types of gourmet coffee that are truly a cut above the rest. These coffees are more rare; therefore, also more expensive. The three that come to mind are Kona coffee, Jamaican Blue Mountain, and of course Kopi Luwak! Kona coffee is from the lush and tropical land of Hawaii. Not only is Hawaii a wonderful vacation destination, but also the producer of some of the most delicious and sought after coffee in the world. Kona coffee is grown in a mountainous Kona region of Hawaii, hence deriving its name. The balmy days of sunny mornings, light misting in the afternoons, and overall very mild soil climates are perfect for growing this type of coffee. The Peaberry is the most rare, and expensive of Kona coffee and is known for possessing a powerful, heavy, robust flavor and smooth consistency. It is medium bodied with a smoky, rich aroma. Jamaican Blue Mountain is also grown in a lush tropical environment, but this time it is in Jamaica. Jamaica is also a great vacation destination and producer of delicious coffee. This tropical environment is also perfect for growing delicious gourmet specialty coffee that coffee-lovers all over the world rave about. The result of this magical climate with perfect harvesting condition is a coffee that is perfect on the palate with delicious body and virtually no bitterness whatsoever. This coffee is also more expensive than a typical run of the mill coffee. The last coffee to talk about is Kopi Luwak. This is without a doubt the world's most expensive and rarest of coffees. It has a unique and labor-intensive process of cultivating and harvesting that leads to higher prices. Kopi Luwak can be priced at as much as $600 per pound. The beans are harvested from the feces of the Asian Palm Civet, which is a rodent-type animal. The animal consumes the coffee beans than passes them through the digestive system, where they come out in whole. Once the animal has defecated the coffee beans, they are thoroughly washed, dried and roasted to perfection. The coffee is said to be some of the smoothest coffee around and a treat to the palate! Cluwak specializes in sourcing 100% authentic wild Kopi Luwak gourmet coffee beans. Cluwak (Coffee Luwak or Kopi Luwak) is the best and most expensive coffee in the world!
