Goa is one of those rare places which you can visit any time and come back fully satiated. Truth be told, it is also one of those corners where each season is different and unique in its own way. While the winters are pleasant, the summer is sunny! For some tourists, the best time to go Goa is during the monsoon season when the lushness and the wetness of India’s beach capital are at its peak. Since, this state has plenty of green zones (viz., wildlife sanctuaries like Salim Ali Bird Park, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, etc), so the rainy days bring the best out of it. The monsoon season in India commences during the month of June and stretches on till the fag end of September. Goa receives its fair share of rainfall and even though downpours are frequent, the state can dry up exceedingly fast and the sun is always peeping out of the clouds. Thus, tourists and sightseers are not inconvenienced in any way and instead of staying cooped up inside their hotels, they feel prompted to wade out into the wet streets and head for those sparkling green-wet corners. Some of the must-visit places which must not be missed during the monsoon season are: i. Dudhsagar Falls: Exploring the forest-crested region of Dudhsagar Falls is counted amongst the top 10 things to do in Goa. This milky waterfall is one of the best natural attractions of the state. It is during the rain-laden monsoon that the waterfall is at its bountiful state and makes the maximum sound as it roars down the mountain slopes in its full strength and volume. ii. Spice Plantation: At Savoi, Goa keeps its best spice plantations. These sprawled green plantations make for a wonderful sight during the rainy days. Their wet freshness is contagiously beautiful and the fragrance wafting out from the soil can be a thrill to the nostrils. iii. Wildlife sanctuaries: As mentioned above, Goa has a battery of wildlife corners including Bondla, Salim Ali, Cotigao and Mollem National Park. The birds and the animals are in a spirited mood during the rainy season. You should try to visit as many of these sanctuaries as possible during your Goa trip. A few other activities you can do in Goa during the monsoon are: - Fishing - Taking a cruise or boat ride on the famed Mandovi River - Being a witness to some riotous local festivals like the Sao-Joao, the most celebrated monsoon festival in the state - Taking a stroll on the top beaches of Baga and Anjuna Because of such promise, it is no wonder that many consider monsoon as the Goa best time to visit.
