Candy tombstones are fun decorations for a spooky party or Halloween treats. The easiest way to make candy tombstones is with melted chocolate, which you can later write on for the full "tombstone" effect. You can shape the chocolate using craft sticks, cookie cutters or a candy mould in the shape of tombstones. Using chocolate candy coating melts, such as the type made for candy making, can help reduce problems with traditional chocolate, such as tempering the melted chocolate or fat or sugar bloom on the finished product if not tempered properly. Candy melts also come in different colours. Instructions as follows: Firstly, line a flat baking tray with non-stick foil and set aside. If the candy moulds have been washed, be sure they are completely dry before using. Water in the moulds will affect the candy or chocolate melted and put into them. Secondly, place the candy melts in individual, microwave-safe bowls. If using tombstone candy moulds with mosaic patterns on them, melt the colour that will go into the moulds first. For example, if the moulds have lettering on the tombstones, melt the coloured candy melts for the letters in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring until just melted and smooth. Use the small paint brush to fill in the letters. Allow to harden. Thirdly, melt the next colour in the same manner, filling in the next area of the mould. Repeat as many times as necessary to "paint" the images in the mould before filling completely. Allow sufficient time to harden. Fourthly, melt the primary candy melts and carefully fill in the moulds, level with the surface of the moulds. Allow to harden completely before popping out of the moulds. Fifthly, line a flat baking tray with non-stick foil and set aside. Make sure that the cookie cutters being used are clean and dry, and free of any cookie crumbs or cookie dough remains from previous use. Water on the cookie cutters with affect the melted chocolate. Sixthly, lay the cookie cutters on the foil-lined sheet and ensure they rest smoothly on the surface. If the bottoms of the cookie cutters are lifting off the foil surface in any spot, the chocolate will seep out under the edge. Place in the freezer for 10 or more minutes. Seventhly, pour the candy melts into a large, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating session, until just melted but smooth. The chocolate should not be too hot, so be sure to follow the 30-second microwaving intervals and stir after each to spread the melted chocolate around. Finally, let me have a short conclusion.
