Public golf courses are golf courses that are open to public. Private golf courses on the other hand are open only to those golfers who pay a certain pre-determined fee. Fairway is generally the area between the putting green and the tee box. This for a golfer is the most advantageous area from where to hit a ball. The area between the fairway and the out-of-bounds markers, and also between the fairway and the green, is the rough. This is the area which is considered disadvantageous for a player from where to hit the ball. Holes often include hazards, which are special areas that have additional rules for play. These are generally of two types: (1) water hazards, such as ponds, lakes, and rivers; and (2) bunkers, or sand traps. Putting green refers to the smooth and even surface with close cut grass surrounding the hole. This facilitates he player to put the golf ball in the hole with relative ease.
