Investing in a business management degree that deals with IT is a big decision where you have decided to dedicate two years of your life to pursuing a college management course. But, if this management degree is not able to serve the purpose and give you the required career boost, your investment is at risk. Today, for an aspirant deciding to pursue a business management degree, there are plenty of options. You can choose a full time MBA IT specialization or an executive MBA program or even the one year PGDITBM options. But, this choice is not going to be a random pick. You will have to do your bit of running around to get answers to crucial questions. Don’t let the colleges remain a complete surprise till the first day of admission. This rule applies even if it for top ranked B schools like Symbiosis Center for Information & Technology. After all, such surprises are best kept for the parties post confirmation of admission. Moving on, you don’t do a management degree just because you are fond of the PGDM colleges in Pune or that you want to celebrate the back to school phase in your life. There are more concrete reasons to take up challenges like the mission to pursue management degree of the executive MBA programs. While there are different pursuits like wanting to gain knowledge, understand the realm of management to apply the rules more efficiently and a lot more, the main reason to pursue a management degree is to give your career the required boost. Well, everyone aspires to climb the career ladder post the completion of a business management degree and there is no harm in this ambition. However, as aspirants of post graduate programs in IT, how many of you are actually aware of the type of options that you will get? What will be the positions offered to you on completion of your MBA IT specialization program? Well, if you don’t know the answer to these questions, you will need to put in more effort. For starters understand the realm of IT, present scenario and its implications on your decision in the future. The career path that you have planned or are planning will be decided on the basis of this understanding. The present scenario in IT is at a stage when the industry is racing towards a revolution. The economy is heavily reliant on the IT sector to sustain its growth plans. So, there is good news in terms of the IT sector having plenty of opportunities. This trend of growth is set to continue for the years to come. However, there are a few changes as well. Previously IT meant a full time office job. But, with recession setting in, people are more interested in hiring on a consultant basis or a project to project basis where they have the authority to negotiate better. Nevertheless, your opportunities still remain. If you invest the time, effort and money to do the degree from top ranked B schools like SCIT, chances are you will have the upper hand on negotiation. Lastly, remember any career was not built in one night, be ready to put in the effort even after completion of the management degree and who knows you may end up as the Narayan Murthy of the future.
