Christening Dresses are ideal for your baby girls christening

Christening dresses

You have chosen the best name for your baby. You want everything about your child's christening to be just as perfect - including the christening dresses. But can you name the most popular styles of baptism gowns? These tips will bring you one step closer to that best event.

Heirloom Gowns
Today's baptism gowns can be tomorrow's heirloom. To qualify as heirlooms, they must either be antique gowns or must mirror that style. The attire must delight with delicate details like embroidery, lace and eyelets.
In order for gowns to survive as heirlooms, they must be made of the highest quality material. Natural fibres can survive throughout the years. Linen and cotton can withstand the test of time. Silk can last for a long time.

Customised Gowns
Your child is special and deserves that special touch. Couture fashion can offer you customised gowns created just for the baby. Many retailers offer personalised services. Your child's name or a symbol of faith (like crosses) can be embroidered on the attire.
Christening dresses are available with detachable bows, sashes and trains. You can decide to add or remove features. There are even unisex styles on the market with removable cummerbund.

Irish Gowns
These Gowns feature embroidered shamrocks and/or 4 leaf clovers. The gowns Celtic appeal extends far beyond Ireland. The leaves of the 4 leaf clover represent hope, faith, love and luck. The symbolism makes the collection a great choice for any child.
The Irish Collection also consists of boys' outfits. A boy's christening suit can sport Celtic embroidery. A toning nautical style hat can top off the ensemble. Girls' christening dresses have shamrock lace at the sleeves, bodice and hem. Satin baptism shoes for girls and boys can be embroidered with Celtic crosses.

Shantung Gowns
Shantung is made from weave synthetic fibres or of silk. The resulting fabric can have a "slubbed" (ribbed) texture. It is normally referred to as antique satin or wild spun silk. Because shantung often drape so nicely, it is an excellent fabric for a christening dress.
Shantung looks outstanding when decorated with sequin, embroidery and bead detail. Young girls can look sweet in a two piece shantung fabric yolk dress with a hat. Small boys can look great in shantung rompers with vests.

"A Touch of Colour" Gowns
Traditional baptism gowns are pure white - symbolising joy, purity and a new life. However, touches of colour are showing up in modern fashion. Cream and ivory do not stray very far from tradition. The standard and popular silk is an off-white and not bright white, by its nature.
In the contemporary style, parents can use colours which have symbolism for their faith. A pale blue sash normally adorns Communion dresses. Likewise, a soft blue ribbon, with a lace on both sides, can fall softly down the front of christening dresses.

When choosing a baptism gown, you have to decide which style best suits your baby's needs. Consider the type of event and the symbolism you want to reflect in the event. Celebrate your child's baptism, a new beginning, and the perfect event!
