From there, it is always best to speak with the attorney directly. If you call their office and are not allowed to speak with an actual lawyer, this should be a red flag! Only lawyers (not "legal assistants" or "paralegals") have the education and training necessary to analyze your particular claim and explain to you how they will go about prosecuting the claim for money damages. At the end of the conversation, you should not only feel confident in the lawyer's abilities but, also in their demeanor. The average personal injury claim takes a minimum of 6-9 months to resolve and some claims that have to be litigated in court may not resolve for a year or two.
