Asia World Capital Group: Social media giant Facebook is looking for new ways to get ads to users that complement the user experience. Asia World Capital Group: Social media giant, Facebook, is ramping up efforts to find ways to boost revenue from mobile advertising as users continue to migrate away from accessing the site on desktops and laptops towards smartphones and tablets. Efforts thus far have met with considerable success as demonstrated by the company’s 2nd quarter earnings results which showed that as much as 41% of the Menlo Park, California-based company’s advertising revenue came from mobile but Facebook remains a distant number two to Google. “Facebook is trying to find the ‘sweet spot’ where they show the right ad to the right user at the right time,” said an Asia World Capital Group tech analyst. “They’ve been enlisting users’ help with this by seeking feedback and analyzing those that users hide or mark as ‘spam’.” The hope is that they will be in a position to fine-tune advertising to each and every one of their 1 billion+ users whether they use a Facebook app or continue to access the site via a traditional browser. Facebook stock has risen by more than 90% since July and has recently touched $50 as investor confidence over the company’s ability to increase revenue from mobile solidifies. The company revealed that it is conducting tests which show Facebook ads external to its apps and its website. This could see more Facebook ads on third-party apps and mobile websites. Asia World Capital Group said it is advising clients to wait before acquiring stock in Facebook on account of what it sees as a likely pullback in equity values across the broader market.
