There are thousands of points that underline the importance of getting your chores done but a hundred ways that highlight on how to get them done. After a good research, I have shortlisted the most crucial factors that expedite the process of getting everything done. I call it the “Decalogue of Getting Everything Done”. It works for me and I believe it to work for you as well. Here Are The Ten Rules: 1. Focus on Priorities And Not Time. The reason some people are successful is not because they have worked for extra hours because time stays the same for everyone. What they did was worked with priorities in their hands and getting those priorities completed first within the same time that you may have toiled in without cause. Allocating time is the key. 2. Shortlist Top 3 Tasks To Do For The Day. Though you have set priorities, even if you are not able to complete everything, make sure that there are these three tasks that you have to complete anyhow, come what may. 3. Avoid Delays. Procrastination is the biggest hindrance in Getting Everything Done. Don’t wait up for today, if there is time and you have something that needs to be done, do it now. 4. Get a life. Make sure you have a balance towards personal and professional life. Workaholics are noticed only at workplaces and even that fades out if you done socialize. Work to live and don’t live to work. 5. Avoid Being A Plodder. Research has proved that workaholics die young or early. If you are among the group who love to work till the brink of making work extinct, make sure you have a will ready with your lawyer and you tell your family beforehand on the type of funeral you wish for yourself. 6. Throw The De Trop. When you look in the backyard and find junk, the best you do of it is to throw it away because it is useless. Similarly, responsibilities, things and anything that impedes your productivity or does not contribute to your growth need to be thrown away. 7. Effective, Not Efficient. There is a difference between the being effective and being efficient. You need to choose the former because on being effective, you automatically become efficient- in the right things. Doing the right things make a difference than being merely busy. 8. Change Is Inevitable, Adjust To It. Dissociate from conventional methods and adopt change. On becoming effective, there will be change and each task done in the same way may produce a different result. You don’t need to be alarmed but you need to accept it and make changes to your work attitude as needed. 9. List it. Making a to-do list to get everything done is extremely important. Modify the list as per priorities and re-priorities on the pending tasks. Use technology to your advantage to save yourself from the mess you may create on a notepad. 10. Say NO. Saying yes to everyone and everything won’t make you any closer to more productive. Keep your family as the highest priority and recharge yourself as and when required.
