Every picture has an effective resolution that takes into account. For ex image with the resolution of 300 PPI that has been scaled 200 precent larger has an effective resolution of 150 PPI. So the every image and its usage has different requirement of resolution of image. For example, colour posters or pictures printed by commercial printer, the resolution should be between 200PPI and 300PPI. If we are going to use the picture online the picture needs to have only 96 PPI which is users screen resolution of monitor. The format of the file is also affects the file size. So we have to be sure file format is appropriate for the content of the image. If we think about the resolution when we are converting the raster image to vector image, the low resolution of raster image would be the one of main cause of poor performance in conversion of raster to vector image conversion. As we know the raster images are made of little squares, call pixels. The no of pixels per inch of a raster image is call resolution. The resolution is measured in Dots per Inch(DPI). For example image with 300 DPI has 300 pixels along each inch. The image of 600 DPI has 600 pixels along each inch. The resolution of raster image is very important for converting image to vector image.it also determines how good the shapes on the image are defined. The better shaped defined, the better raster to vector conversion will be done.raster to vector For example, consider the curve below. In raster image, the curve must be represented by squares pixels. In the image below, it shows the pixel representation of curve at the lower and lower resolutions. At the higher resolution the pixels are small and are able to represent the shape of the curve well. If we convert the image to vector we will get vector curve. As we can see in the image, the resolution gets lower and lower, the pixel become too large to be able to represent the curve. So the curve will look no longer in shape of curve. As we can see the no longer curve shape on the image. So the every image with the lower conversion will be as poor at the performance as this image shown. Therefore if we are going to do the raster to vector conversion, we have to make sure that the resolution of the image you want to convert is high resolute so it can have better shape on our drawing. http://imagetovectors.com.au/blog/the-importance-of-resolution-in-conversion-of-raster-image-to-vector-image/
