Located above the Central Highlands of the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, the Minneriya National Park is one of twenty two national parks administered by the Department of Wildlife Conservation in the country. This area was originally known as a wildlife sanctuary in the late 1930s and was elevated to the status of a National Park on 12th August 1997.
