MONTE CARLO, Monaco, June 10. THE 2012 Mare Nostrum wrapped uptoday with the last finals session in Monaco. South Africa's ChadLe Clos took home his fourth gold of the weekend while France'sCamille Muffat set another meet record in the women's 400 free. Muffat, who has been on fire lately with several amazing swims inthe mid-distance freestyle events, added one more win after anothersolid outing in the 400 free. Muffat finished in 4:03.72, a newmeet record. Canada's Barbara Jardin (4:07.50) and China's BiYirong (4:11.08) claimed second and third. Muffat also finishedsecond in the 100 free today. Great Britain's Francesca Halsalltouched first in 54.26, followed by Muffat (54.40) and GreatBritain's Amy Smith (54.87). Yannick Agnel earned his second win of the weekend with a 1:46.58in the men's 200 free, better than Australia's Jarrod Killey(1:47.95) and Alex Di Giorgio of Italy (1:48.36). Agnel has thefastest performance of 2012 at 1:44.42 from the French OlympicTrials in March. Lizzie Simmonds of Great Britain claimed her second backstrokevictory with a 1:00.24 in the 100, while Canada's Sinead Russellfinished in the runner-up spot again with a 1:00.74. South Africa'sKarin Prinsloo took third in 1:00.95. South Africa's Darren Murrayemerged from a tightly packed group to win the men's 200 back in2:00.28, with Great Britain's Joseph Patching (2:00.60) andCanada's Tobias Oriwol (2:00.62) not far behind. In the breaststroke events, Jakob Johann Sveinsson of Iceland(1:02.90) and Joline Hoestman of Sweden (2:26.83) claimed the men's100 and women's 200 breast, respectively. China's Xie Zhi (1:03.08)and Australia's Maxwell Ireland (1:03.13) finished in second andthird on the men's side while Sara El Bekri of Morocco (2:28.67)and Jessica Vall of France (2:29.23) completed the podium for thewomen. South Africa's Chad Le Clos picked up his third and fourth wins ofthe meet with solid outings in the men's 100 fly (52.43) and 400 IM(4:21.39). Yesterday, Le Clos won the 200 IM and 200 fly. France'sClement Lefert (53.14) and Italy's Piero Codia (53.33) also earnedmedals in the 100 fly, while China's Wei Haobo (4:22.25) andItaly's Simone Geni (4:27.52) rounded out the top three finalistsin the 400 IM. Audrey Lacroix of Canada topped the field in the women's 200 flywith a time of 2:10.56, about a second and a half off her top timeof 2:09.01. Zhu Jiani of China (2:11.18) and Katerine Savard ofCanada (2:11.28) battled it out for silver and bronze in the event. China's He Yuzhe claimed the women's 200 IM in 2:13.91, well aheadof South Africa's Kathryn Meaklim at 2:16.02 and Iceland's EygloOsk Gustafsdottir (2:17.93). Results: Mare Nostrum, Monaco.
