Tab : Mycomune 500 11-article 2 Brand name : Mycomune 500 Composition: Each film coated tablet contains mycophenolate mofetil IP 500mg. This drug lowers body's immune system. The immune system helps in body fight infections. The immune system can also fight or "reject" a transplanted organ such as a liver or kidney. This is because the immune system treats the new organ as an invader. This is used to prevent body from rejecting a kidney, liver, or heart transplant. Side effects : Signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty in breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using the drug if you have any of these serious side effects : - fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms;
- pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, trouble breathing, fast heart rate;
- coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
- bloody, black, or tarry stools;
- painful or difficult urination;
- chest pain;
- problems with vision, speech, balance, or memory; or
- weakness in legs, lack of coordination.
Less serious side effects may include : - nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, or constipation;
- headache, mild weakness;
- swelling in hands or feet;
- numbness or tingly feeling; or
- anxiety, sleep problems (insomnia).
Precautions : This medicine can cause harm to an unborn baby, especially if used during the first trimester of pregnancy. Do not use this medicine during pregnancy or if plan to become pregnant during treatment. If you are a woman of child-bearing potential, you will be required to use two forms of birth control to prevent pregnancy before and during treatment with this drug, and for at least 6 weeks after treatment ends. And will also need to have a negative pregnancy test within 1 week before start using this medication. Avoid being near people who have colds, the flu, or other contagious illnesses. Do not receive a "live" vaccine while are being treated with mycophenolate mofetil. The live vaccine may not work as well during the treatment, and may not fully protect from disease. Avoid using antacids. Antacids contain different medicines and some types can make it harder for body to absorb mycophenolate mofetil. Avoid exposure to sunlight or artificial UV rays (sunlamps or tanning beds). The drug can increase the risk of skin cancer. Use a sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) and wear protective clothing. Interaction with other drug: Before using this medication, tell the doctor if you are using any of the following drugs : - cholestyramine
- ciprofloxacin , amoxicillin and clavulanate, or any other type of antibiotic;
- acyclovir , ganciclovir , or valacyclovir or
- Other medicines that weaken the immune system, such as azathioprine, cyclosporine, tacrolimus , or daclizumab .
- These drugs can interact with mycophenolate mofetil. .
Dosage : - The drug is usually given twice a day.
- Take the medicine with a full glass of water.
- Take the medicine on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.
- The medicine from a crushed or broken pill can be dangerous if it gets in eyes, mouth, or nose, or on skin. If it does come in contact with these areas, wash skin with soap and water or rinse eyes with water.
- The medicine can lower the blood cells that help your body fight infections. This can make it easier to bleed from an injury or get sick from being around others who are ill. Also there is an increased risk of certain forms of cancer. To be sure that blood cells do not get too low, blood will need to be tested on a weekly or monthly basis. Do not miss any scheduled appointments.
About miss dose : Use the missed dose as soon as remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and use the medicine at the next regularly scheduled time. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose. Over dose : If used too much of this medicine. Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, unusual bleeding or bruising, and signs of infection. Storage : Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
