In today's times, the television is the most effective medium to reach out to the youth. It also is one of the most engaging sources of entertainment. It is extremely important to the youth and is one of the most dominant ways of directing youth online; where TV and online media are increasingly interrelated. With music being an important component of the younger generation it has become a popular phenomenon to add new dimensions to these channels. These TV channels not have not only reduced the music content but have converted into a youth general entertainment channel. They also give a platform to a number of youngsters who want to make a break-through on the small-screen. Youth shows have become increasingly popular on a number of music channels in India and this transition of music channels to youth oriented entertainment channels is completely to increase the TRP's. It has completely changed the programming content to a great extent. When it comes to the youth; they are not interested in watching saas bahu ka rona dhona shows. They want to see real-life emotions and stories which they can connect with. These shows have become popular not only for the amount of viewership that they earn but also for giving youngster a chance to participate in the show. These shows are a break-through genre and are a break from the regular soaps that are constantly being shown on various channels. These shows have a high emotional quotient to them and are completely unscripted and very often have a number of challenges within them.
