Visiting a desert is very different from going to other recreational places such as theme parks or some other cold region. A desert is a hot arid place and you need to carry certain things to keep your stay there safe and secure. 1.Carry your own water bottle - Need we mention that? A desert is a hot and humid area. You will feel very thirsty and your throats may dry out very easily. This is the reason why a water bottle becomes indispensable. However, don’t gulp down the entire bottle in one go. Keep having water in short intervals. 2.Wear fully covered clothing - Wear a full sleeved shirt but make sure it is light in color. Dark colors tend to absorb the rays of the sun. Wearing light colors will make your day in the desert. 3.Carry a better sunscreen - And by a better sunscreen we mean, the one with a higher SPF for complete protection against tanning and even conditions like skin cancer. Higher SPF creams will knock out the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun that you will generally experience in a desert. 4.Wear a huge hat – A normal hat simply covers the head. But considering it’s a desert, your neck needs to be covered too. A huge hat with a large surface should serve the purpose. 5.Take care of your personal things - Personal things can get damaged during the journey or due to creepy desert creatures. So cover your personal things with a cloth and keep them away from moisture. 6.Keep a watch on desert plants- As you find a way to the desert, you may inadvertently run into a cactus that has the capacity to prick your skin with its thorny exterior. There may also be other kind of creatures in the desert such as rattlesnakes, so research about them before stepping into the desert. 7.Use healthy moisturizers for your skin - Given the hot climate in the desert, the skin is bound to become dry. Use a moisturizer that not just moisturizes your skin but helps to keep it healthy too. 8.Keep your skin and body well hydrated – It would be best to get a water carrier with you, so that you are not left searching for water any time. Make sure you drink lots of water to avoid conditions such as nasal bleeding. You can also use artificial tears to avoid dryness of the eyes. 9.Get your sunglasses – And lastly, you need to carry a pair of sunglasses with you. You can wear it throughout the journey while in the desert, or remove it as per your convenience. However, keep a spare pair in case the first one is lost while unpacking.
