Player Profile - Jason Dufner |
In August of 2013 the world was introduced to a golfer by the name of Jason Dufner who has very quietly but steadily been making his way up the golf rankings for the past few years. Dufner won the 2013 PGA Championship in dramatic fashion by holding off a threatening Jim Furyk to win by two strokes. On his way to victory, Dufner also posted a 63 in the second round, tying the lowest score ever achieved in any round of any Major Tournament.
About Jason Dufner
Jason Dufner was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1977. When he was 11 years old his family moved to Washington, D.C. and eventually they moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was there, in Florida, that Dufner began playing golf. Dufner played for his high school golf team his sophomore through senior years.
After high school, Dufner was a walk-on to the Auburn University golf team where he had a successful college golf career. Dufner graduated from college in 2000 with a degree in economics. Professional Career
Dufner turned pro in 2000 but struggled early in his career to maintain a spot on the PGA tour. From 2000 to 2009, Dufner gained and lost his Tour card a couple of times. In 2009 Dufner regained his Tour card and has retained it ever since. Dufner has won three times on the PGA Tour. In 2012 he won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans (in his 164th professional start,) and the HP Byron Nelson Championship. And, of course, in 2013 Dufner was the winner of the PGA Championship, his first Major Tournament Victory.
Dufner also qualified for the Ryder Cup in 2012, where he finished with an impressive 3-1 record. Currently, Dufner is ranked 8th in the world, his highest ranking since turning pro, and ranks 14th in Fed-Ex Cup points.

About the Man
Jason Dufner’s laid back relaxed approach to the game and to life make him one of the more likeable players on tour. Typically, this kind of mentality makes for a great short game. Putting calmly usually yields better results than a tense, over-gripping approach to putting. However, it has been Dufner’s short game that has given some golf experts pause for concern. Many have wondered if he had the ability to overcome the struggles with short putts to put a complete tournament together and win a Major. Well, wonder no more.
While Dufner struggled a bit to find his way early in his professional career, his performance has been steadily improving over the past few years and he is absolutely a player to keep an eye on in the future.
