There are many positions which one can assume in an AEG (automatic electric gun) team. The basic to being successful in your combat is to establish strategies that work for your team, find roles in which the member of your team excel and to work on and hone communication between team members. Regular practice and game play with team members can allow your team to build these skills. One of the thrilling aspects of AEG game play is to catch the enemy by surprise by various ambushing methods. One of the keys to ambushing your enemies is to set up a proper sniper team. While many people are initiated on a “Snipe hunt” few are aware that there is an African bird called a snipe. It is small and fast and requires excellent marksmanship to shoot. Snipers have become a jack of all trades, with developed skills in several aspects to combat play. Before the game Part of being a successful sniper is to develop superb marksmanship skills. This involves hours of target practice under various conditions. In the Civil War, the requirement for a Union soldier to be in the elite United States Sharp Shooters (USSS) was to shoot ten rounds into a 12 inch pie plate from two hundred yards out. Thankfully, most AEG teams do not have the same requirements, although with today’s weapons and a scope, this is a less daunting task than it was two hundred years ago. During the game Remaining undetected by the enemy is the key to a successful sniper mission. To be a successful sniper, you need to be able to be properly camouflaged with either natural or artificial camouflage. If you choose to use natural camouflage, try to change it if it begins to look wilted, etc. sine it won’t blend into the natural surroundings as easily. After the game Since snipers need their guns to fire immediately and accurately, proper care of your AEG is necessary. One such popular sniper weapon is the R76 Pulse. Use short bursts of about thirty shots at a time. Longer burst can strip your piston of its teeth. No matter how much you would like to empty your magazine in one burst, this is simply not good for your AEG. It is always a good idea at the end of a day of fun to fire a few shots in the semi automatic setting. This resets the piston and decompresses the spring, which keeps your gun operating at optimal levels.
