Any serious golfer or professional will tell you to go and get fit for clubs especially the driver. I'm a Taylormade guy. The stock shaft on the R11s is a pretty good stock shaft. TaylorMade again unleashed its unique best price R1 driver to the world in 2013.
In terms of looks, this TaylorMade R1 is the most appealing TaylorMade best price golf clubs I’ve ever seen. The crown is just beautiful with its racing-style lines and the new linear marks that have been scientifically designed to help golfers with alignment and hit the ball straighter. The white space on the left of the head also allows you to focus entirely on the ball.
With R11S, the company offered us a white-crowned club that let them change the effective loft, face angle and weight bias. One of the biggest and most impressive differences between the R11S and this sportier R1 is independent loft adjustability. There’s nothing worse than heading to a pro shop, taping up a new driver before handing over some dollar and then realising a week later you should have gone higher than an 8.
For even someone as technologically useless as myself, I found that since I was in charge of independently tuning loft, weights and face angle, I could experiment with one variable at a time and learn exactly what was working or wasn’t. Although this took a little bit of time, all this tinkering was perfect to unlock some hidden yards and find my desired launch angle.
I do, however, recognize that some golfers really like adjustable drivers. It just seems to me that there are an awful lot of things to fiddle with on the TaylorMade R11S driver – you can adjust the hosel sleeve, the moveable weight cartridges, and the sole plate. How in the world does anyone get all those different adjustments “right?” I’d probably turn into a head case trying. I’d feel like I needed an owner’s manual just to adjust my driver properly.
Of course, the adjustability of the TaylorMade R11S driver isn’t its only design feature. The “Thick-Thin Crown” of the large titanium head lowers the club’s center of gravity and improves launch conditions, while the Inverted Cone Technology promotes more ball speed and additional distance on off-center shots by expanding the club’s Coefficient of Restitution zone.
But, for many golfers, the TaylorMade R11S driver is appealing because of its adjustability. For example, the FCT system has eight user-selectable positions to increase or decrease the driver’s loft by up to1.5 degrees. By using the ASP, you can choose one of five face angle settings (two more than the original best price burner 2.0 driver) to open or close the face within a 6-degree range.
I've adjusted it several times, and have finally found the right loft suits me. The R11s is the successor to Taylor Made's less forgiving R11 and the precursor to the subsequent RBZ, RBZ Stage II, R1. Amazingly, the white face shows no signs of mishits or wear.
