With the AFL 2013 premiership on the books, there's not much going on for Australian rules among bookmakers online for now. That being said, here's a look back at another time from another sport. The February 6 schedule of the NBA only had 5 games but what the night lacked in quantity, the quality of the matchups more than made up for it. There are many takeaways from the Tuesday's matchup for the general fans and analysts and those who are into betting in sports. Lakers vs. Nets Although the Los Angeles Lakers has had a pretty disappointing season so far, that fact never made the team less interesting. There are fans waiting to see the team turn their season around. Those who are betting in sports and NBA analysts are having a blast examining the different nooks and crevices of the team. The Nets too have been creating a buzz since moving to Brooklyn and drama that happened a little more than a month ago, and while the expensive roster has not performed that is par for its price, they are a decent team. These things alone made this matchup interesting. The Lakers won and despite the 92-83 final score, the game was a close one with the Nets making a run in the last period. So what's the takeaway from this game? Well, the Nets look like a mediocre team and, for such a talented and expensive player, Deron Williams isn't making any impact in the game at all. The Lakers showed that they are a formidable team even when missing two key players. Although they got outrebounded in this one, which can be attributed to Howard and World Peace missing, they displayed a pretty decent defense by taking away the easier shots from the Net for significant stretches of the game. They key here now is being consistent. Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors The Golden State Warriors is a team that primarily relies on jump shots for them to score. Being in the fifth spot for playoff contention, I can't argue that they have been successful with it. In this game, however, they got a dose of their own medicine as the Houston Rockets rained a barrage of three-pointers that seemed to never miss the mark. If a team scores 140 points on your team, it means you need to work more on the defensive side of things. A couple of late reactions in rotations and one-on-one defense that didn't put so much pressure on the ball-handler are something to look at and correct. The rockets in this one showed the beauty of their free-flowing offense when shots go in. However, the concern is about the team finding a more consistent way to score and relying less on hot shooting nights.
