A special place in the history of the town is world-famous Kiev- Pechersk Lavra - the first Christian monastery in Russia. During the Soviet era, the church was completely destroyed. Following the acquisition of Ukraine's independence temple was rebuilt again , and May 30, 1999 held its official opening .
