When you teach your kids (and yourself) how to make reusable stickers, redecorating a notebook, a chart or a plain wall becomes easy and affordable. Stickers referred to as "reusable" are stickers that can be removed and pasted elsewhere without compromising the sticker or its stickiness. Some adhesives used to make reusable stickers retain their stickiness when you add a little water to the glue, which activates molecules attracted to water. Other adhesives, like "mack tack" or adhesive tack, does not need moistened to provide stickiness for homemade, customized stickers. Adhesive tack looks like little squares of blue Play-doh that can be pulled apart and placed on the back of posters, framed pictures or anything else you want to hang without using nails or Scotch tape. How to Make Stickers with Fabric Paint First, purchase several small containers of fabric paint at a craft store and a medium-sized hand mirror on which to make your customized stickers. Use one of the fabric paint containers (they have tips through which you squeeze out the paint) to draw your name, a star, a heart or any other image you wish on the mirror. Allow the paint to dry for one full day or until it feels hard to the touch. If you can press down on the paint, it isn't dry enough. When it is dry, gently peel off the paint image from the mirror, rub a bit of water onto the back of the sticker and place it anywhere you want. Kids will love to decorate their rooms and personal items with these puffy, 3-dimensional stickers! How to Make Stickers with Gelatin Reusable stickers can be created by mixing one tablespoon of hot water with three tablespoons of gelatin. Using a small paintbrush, paint this adhesive on the back of artwork or images printed off the Internet and wait until the gelatin is partially dry. Place your customized stickers on any surface and remove them whenever you want to redecorate. Dampening the gelatin glue with water will activate the stickiness to make them easy, homemade reusable stickers your kids will enjoy creating and using over and over again.
